Electrical Installation Condition Report

All commercial premises, including rented accommodation, must provide a detailed electrical inspection report for insurance purposes.

We here at Griff can offer a thorough electrical inspection to ensure your electronics are up to NAPIT Certification standards.

Electrical certification is essential for landlords to ensure the safety of your tenants. A NAPIT Certificate also protects you from a legal standpoint as it proves your due diligence. It is recommended that you have a full electrical inspection carried out every 3-5 years.

For larger customers, or public spaces such as schools, we offer an additional testing service for lighting conductors and earthing systems.

Please contact us for more details.

PAT Testing

Both the UK Health and Safety Executive, and all major insurance companies, require employers to perform regular PAT tests on electrical equipment.

PAT testing is usually carried out on an annual basis; however, you may need to carry out more frequent testing depending on the nature of your business. For example, it is recommended that equipment on construction sites be tested every 3 months for health and safety purposes.

What is a PAT Test?

A PAT test is an electrical equipment inspection that is usually carried out in two parts: a visual inspection and an electrical test carried out using specialised testing equipment. After the test, a label is normally attached to the equipment indicating whether it has passed or failed and detailing the next test date.

Emergency Lighting Tests

It is a legal requirement that all emergency lighting systems undergo a full 3-hour discharge test every year.

This works to ensure that the system is fully functional and ensures that, in the event of an emergency, all escape routes remain lit for their required length of time.

Thermal Imaging

Thermal imaging is used to scan electrical objects for internal deterioration or other abnormalities.

Thermoimaging inspections are one of the most thorough and valuable forms of maintenance for large businesses or organisations, where continuity of process is paramount.

How does Thermal Imaging Work?

A thermographic camera is a device that forms images using infrared radiation. Thermal imaging is a widely used method of detecting problems in electrical equipment as it can identify issues that cannot be seen with the naked eye without interfering with the equipment.

Thermal imaging can help detect problems before they surface, allowing for planned maintenance, minimising the risk of fire, and preventing costly production downtime’s.
